We thoroughly enjoyed this morning’s webinar, Doing Business in Canada (with information presented by law firm Green and Spiegel).

There are a number of things to consider when visiting Canada for business, such as:

• The length and nature of the visit,
• Whether you are entering from a visa-exempt country (i.e. the U.S., U.K., France, Mexico) or a non visa-exempt country (i.e. India, China),
• If there is something in your background that may prohibit entry into Canada,
• If you are coming from a country which has an existing trade agreement with Canada,
• If an ‘after-sales service’ clause has been written into the Canadian client’s original purchase order,
• If you have compiled all the necessary business and personal documents to travel, and
• If you have specialized skills, or can speak French.

The preparation might seem daunting, but travelling unprepared can impede business activities. While the Government of Canada has a lot of relevant information on its website, some issues may require the services of an immigration lawyer.
