Some tips for working at home.

Twitter is awash in jokes about the good old days… of three weeks ago.

Our lives have been altered in attempts to halt the spread of COVID-19. Many people are now juggling work and home life from their actual homes. We know first-hand that it’s a big adjustment – and we’ve found some resources that can help.

Review Geek has a great article for those new to working from home, and includes suggestions relating to setting up your home office, preparing for your work day, scheduling meetings, and knowing when (and how) to disconnect.

What about those who are now leading teams of remote workers? Business Insider has offered tips on managing your home-based workers – these include being flexible, listening carefully, and sharing documents for review.

Working from home also requires reliable network connectivity – and security. Your company’s IT department might be responsible for your hardware, but you should be paying attention to your home’s connection. Wired has a great article listing ways to secure your Wi-Fi router; it’s a must-read for home-based employees.

There are many resources available for those struggling with remote work. A quick Google search will lead you to a great deal of information. We’ll also be posting articles on our Twitter feed, so you can monitor that if it’s easier for you.

One final note: it appears that our new home-based lifestyles are a boon for streaming services. (But that’s not really a surprise, is it?)

In the interim, remember: protect your health and that of your loved ones, practice social distancing, and keep washing those hands.
