They’ve been a year in the making, and they’re almost here.
Cannabis was legalized in Canada in October of 2018; regulations for edibles and related products were scheduled to be implemented no later than October 17, 2019 (one year after legalization). Health Canada‘s 60-day public consultation on its draft regulations earlier this year and although those results have not yet been published, it’s good to review the current draft regulations, to be prepared for their enforcement this fall.
The draft regulations include issues around licensing (establishing classes and subclasses), production practices (including machinery, ventilation systems, and controls), product rules (including composition and limits), as well as packaging and labeling requirement.
More in-depth information about the draft regulations can be found here. We’ll be posting information as it becomes available, so watch this space.
